Overall 2024 Bucket Winner, From Class D L’Esprit 1: GELLICEAUX
2024 St. Barths Bucket
THE BUCKET TROPHY
Overall Winner Criteria
The overall winner of the 2024 St Barths Bucket will be that yacht which prevails in the class with the closest most competitive racing. This quantitative criterion is strictly objective.
The dual criterion considers series points and overall time differential to determine the winner. The class with smallest series point differential between first and third place finishers will receive 1 point, with each class in succession receiving 2, 3, 4 or 5 points. The class with the smallest overall time differential (total time/total distance for all races) between the first and third place finishers will receive one point, with each class in succession receiving one additional point as above.
The above-mentioned points will be added together for the overall competitive class score. The class with the lowest total score will be the overall winner of the 2024 edition of the St Barths Bucket.
For reference, the two formulas and the 2023 Bucket results using this overall criterion are available here.
Should there be a tie, the class winner with the most yachts in class wins. Should the tie remain unbroken, starting prowess will determine the overall winner.
Yachts eligible for this award must be 30 meter LOA or more and be cruising superyachts (2023-SYRA-Cruising-Yacht-Definition.pdf)
The race committee will post updates on class standing after racing on Friday and Saturday.
