Good news or bad news first? Okay, bad news is that last night’s Bucket Yacht Hop had to be cancelled due to the dangerous surge at the dock and a low number of yachts committed to docking at the Capitainerie rather than the outer Harbor. Good news was that the party still went on. Replacing food and entertainment on the yachts was food and entertainment ashore at the dockside Bucket Marquee. The Bucket Bar was in full swing while yummy appetizers were served up and the band Nomad performed. At halftime, Sandra the belly dancer took the stage, encouraging some hips to shimmy and eyes to pop, and Lea lit up the stage with her light show.
Before all that, more happy daily race winners took the stage to receive their trophies.
All these and more Bucket memories can be rolled up and taken home in the form of this year’s limited edition Bucket wall poster, the artwork for which was designed by Hermès. Get them during the day at the Space Contemporary Art Gallery, located on Carré D’Or between Hermès and Ralph Lauren – and during the evenings at the ticket table for the Bucket Bar. Price is 100€ Euro.
Bucket poster sale proceeds will be combined with 500 Euros from each entry fee to benefit this year’s chosen charity: the Youth Sailing Program at the St. Barths Yacht Club (SBYC). Every year through the program, over 400 children take to the water and learn to respect each other and their environment. In addition to making a monetary donation to support the SBYC youth program operations, the Bucket will purchase and donate the robotic MarkSetBot race mark, on the Bucket race curse this week. It will be used by SBYC and hopefully at all regattas in St Barths. By the way, the SBYC and their members play an active role as on-water and shoreside volunteers at the Bucket each year.
