Photograph of the Tanya M. Quintet performing at the 2023 St Barths Bucket Regatta.Last night’s first Daily Awards Presentation took place at the Bucket Marquee where post-racing socializing was a hit with Bucketeers. Thanks to our Safe Harbor Marinas Friend of the Bucket for helping with the presentation of the trophies and Perrier-Joulet champagne to the happy winners.  Soon after the awards, the Bucket Bash rocked the docks with music by the Tanya M. Quintet. If Tanya, with her take on everything from reggae to classic hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s, couldn’t get you to dance, nobody could…and moving their feet were plenty of participants, friends, families, and members of the local community. “The evening just flowed, one fun thing into another,” said a crew member from Nakupenda. Not to mention, it was St. Patrick’s Day, so why not party hearty?

Though that’s an invitation-only event, every morning and evening is a perfect time for the public to stroll down the Quay for a look-see. Saturday morning, Hermes was serving lattes and fruit juice (with lime and ginger for good measure) to all who care to partake.

Photograph of a battery powered mark buoy being prepared in St Barths. On your mark, get set, MarkSetBot…If you see this funny yellow critter skimming across the water, know that BOTs are reducing emissions (battery powered), protecting the sea bed (no anchors used), and, well, just being useful as battery powered marks that move themselves. Yes, they use GPS technology to zero in on a specific location and stay there. Now those are some fun facts!

Have you noticed the amazing volunteers helping at registration, check-ins, at race headquarters and on the water? Say “thank you” when you can, because without them there would be no Bucket Regatta, and that would be an awful way to live.
