Blessing the 2022 St. Barths Bucket Regatta fleet.By now, most everyone has seen the oversized anchor in front of the Anglican Church at the east end of the harbor. That’s where Wednesday’s Blessing of the Fleet took place, followed by drinks in the Brook Lacour Garden. The Blessing of the Fleet is a traditional service for people who spend time on the sea.  That would be us!

Nicolas Nemyei, proprietor of Le Bar de L’oubli, makes it a point to pNicolas Nemyei, proprietor of Le Bar de L’oubli.ersonally greet all Bucketeers entering his corner restaurant/bar with a lilting “Bonjour!” followed by an equally welcoming “We are so very happy to see you!”  Like all restauranteurs and shop owners in St. Barths, he has truly missed us, and it’s not just for the revenue generated from our being here (can you say “rosé all day”?) but also for how kind we are. “The Bucket is the highlight of our season because the people are happy,” he said, “and their behavior is exemplary. They are so nice to us, and they love the island.”

Several of these whimsically efficient contraptions are being used for the first time here at the Bucket.
