Better than a postcard…that’s what the folks at SunBarth had in mind when they dressed their downtown store window with rows of sailing shorts, imprinted with a panoramic of the Port of Gustavia and complete with Superyachts located front and center. No Bucket sailors have been spotted (as of yet) sporting the fancy pants, but they are a steal at 285 Euros.  And the custom-made Tell-Tale Hat worn by Rosehearty’s Robbie Cook? …Priceless.

There’s a day life and a night life at the Bucket, and it’s hard to say which is more colorful.  Friday night’s Yacht Hop made the case in point when Q cranked up the dancing on its deck with a DJ fronted by a sensational sax player. The Q crew also served up Passion Fruit Martinis to those who waited their turn to get aboard, while Visione surely won “Most Over-the-Top” by offering Cristal champagne and Beluga caviar to its guests. Thank you to all the yacht owners who opened their boats for tours and shared their joie de vivre with us all.

When you are at the most popular Superyacht Regatta in the world, it shouldn’t be a surprise when you see the world’s largest single-masted yacht sail by. Entered in Les Voiles Blanche class is M5, a 77.6 metre sloop designed by Ron Holland, built at an estimated cost of over USD 50 million, and launched in 2003 as Mirabella V. M5’s genoa, at approximately 1,833 square meters, is the world’s largest sail (excluding spinnakers) and not an easy one to dry out on the lawn…it would cover the area of seven tennis courts. Before M5 came along, yachts over 25 metres long were built with more than one mast to spread the load, but M5 was constructed with the tallest mast (88.5 meters) ever built, so now you know more about this sight-to-behold when she sails by!
